Enrollment

How can I enrol for the course?

To enrol in our courses you have two options: 

OPTION 1

  1. Fill out the Online enrollment
  2. Select the course(s) and services (lodging, transfer, etc.) you wish to purchase.
  3. Read and accept the Privacy Policy.
  4. Read and accept the Terms and Conditions.
  5. Confirm the enrollment.

 

OPTION 2

  1. Select the button: send enrollment and pay online (credit card).
  2. Select the course(s) and services (lodging, transfer, etc.) you wish to purchase.
  3. Fill out all necessary personal data. 
  4. Read and accept the Privacy Policy.
  5. Read and accept the Terms and Conditions.
  6. Enter your credit card details.
  7. Confirm the purchase.

Please remind that you should send us a copy of your valid passport through email.

Which information will I receive after my enrollment?

Once you has sent the reservation of the course, we will send the following: 

  • Invoice of all the services (this document will include, among other data, the number of the invoice, the company name and address, client name and surname, name of the course, settlement period referred to, breakdown of the different concepts, VAT rate applicable during each period according to the current legislation, and place and date of issuance).
  • Necessary information for the first day of course. 
  • Educational Agreement.
  • Information brochure and Student Manual (in both you will find the following information: Identification of the school, company owner and person in charge, benefits name of the courses, deadlines for registrations, academic qualifications of the teaching staff, prices, and other relevant circumstances). 

The Colegio de España will send you all the information in a maximum of 48 hours (working days).

Will I pay any enrollment fee?

No, our school does not charge any enrollment fee.

What is the procedure to pay for my course?

To pay for the course you have two options:

  1. Pay a deposit of €100 to reserve the course (this amount will be deducted from the total amount of the invoice). You can make the rest of the payment before starting the course or on the first day of it.
  2. Pay the total invoice before starting the course or on the first day of class.

Once you have paid the deposit or the total invoice, you will be enrolled in our courses.

When do I have to pay?

You must pay the deposit within ten calendar days following receipt of the confirmation. You can pay the rest of the bill before your arrival or on the first day of the course.

What are the payment options?

Bank transfer (bank account details will be sent on the invoice), credit card (Visa or Mastercard, American Express is not accepted), Paypal (in account info@colegioespana.com), Stripe or cash on the first day of class (bank checks are not accepted). Our school does not offer financing methods.

All the expenses and commissions generated by any of these transactions will be beard by the student. 

If the school receives an amount less than the invoice amount, we will inform you so that you can pay the remaining amount on the first day of class.

Do I have to sign the Educational Agreement?

Yes, to formalize the contracting of services (course, accommodation, etc.), you must send the Educational Agreement and the annex signed via email before starting your course. The contracts will be signed in duplicate, leaving one in your possession and the other in our center at the disposal of the competent authorities.

Do I need a Medical Insurance?

To participate in our courses you must have Medical Insurance and/or Travel Insurance that includes both medical and repatriation expenses if necessary.

If you live in a country that is part of the European Union you can get the European Health Insurance Card in your home country before travelling to Spain. This card can be used to get medical assistance in any public medical centre in case you need so.

In case you would not have any insurance, you can request information at the following link about the Student Medical Insurance offered by the school. This insurance should be taken before arrival to Spain.

Your registration does not include any type of insurance and the Colegio de España is not responsible for any problems that may arise due to the lack of it.

Which documents do I need for my visa?

The Colegio will provide you with the necessary documents (Certificate of admission, invoice of all services and program of the course in case you need this) after having received the full payment of the course and any additional services.

We will send this certificate by email. In case you need the original copies, the courier charges will be paid by the student.

Which is the procedure if I cancel my enrollment?

In the Terms and Conditions you can consult all the information in case of cancellation.

Course

When do the courses start?

You can start your course any Monday.  The Colegio recommends A1 level students (Beginners) to start class during the first week of each course.

Where courses are taught?

The headquarters of the Colegio de España is located at Calle Compañía nº 65, 37002 in Salamanca although, for organizational reasons and, during the busiest months, classes may be held in other facilities outside the School. In this case, we will notify you in advance.

What is the school schedule?

Administration

  • Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30a.m. to 2.00p.m.

Opening hours for students (library, lecture room)

  • Mondays to Fridays, from 9.00a.m. to 2.00p.m.

What is the class schedule?

Classes are taught from Monday to Friday, generally in the morning (from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. or from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.). The School reserves the right to make changes to the class schedule if necessary.

Are there classes on holidays?

On national or local public holidays there will be no class.  These days are not recoverable nor will they be deducted from your registration. The school does not offer discounts when starting and ending the course in the middle of the week. You should check on our website or in the price sheet if there are any holidays during your course. Do you have any special needs?

Before starting the course you must make sure that there are no restrictions to participate in it (age, some type of disability, special request, etc.) to do this you must contact the center administration.

Which is the minimum and maximum age to participate in the courses?

Our centre doesn’t have a minimum nor maximum age to participate in our courses, nevertheless the recommended age is as of from 13 years. There is the possibility of booking courses for students under 13 years of age. In this case, the conditions must be agreed between the center and the parents or legal guardians.

What is included in the price of my course?

The price of the course includes class material (notebook and pen), welcome gift, all extra-curricular activities free of charge which take place during your stay and an Attendance Certificate at the end of the course. 

Se incluye el material escolar (cuaderno y bolígrafo), regalo de bienvenida, actividades extra-curriculares gratuitas que tengan lugar durante tu estancia y Certificado de Asistencia al curso. Books are not included in the price of the course (this amount must be paid on the first day of class, approximately €27.00).

How do I know what level of Spanish I have?

Before starting your course, should take the placement test online (oral and written comprehension). If for any reason you cannot take the test online, you can take it on your first day of class, at 8.50 a.m. The test is included in the class sessions.

Can I change my level if I feel it is not the appropriate one?

Yes. To change to another level, you should contact your teacher or the Head of Studies.

How many classmates will I have?

The classes at our school have reduced groups. The average number of students per class is 7-8, the maximum number is 12.

Can I extend my course?

Yes. To extend your course, please inform the Administration of the Colegio.

If you have a long-duration course and you wish to extend your course, you should inform at least a month before the end date of your course, and that way, we can apply the discounts offered by the Colegio.

Can I shorten my course?

The duration of your course can be extended, but cannot be shortened, without a properly justified cause (emergency, illness of next of kin, etc).

Can I postpone my course?

We remind you that, as a general rule of the school, breaks in between courses are not allowed (holidays, trips, etc.). In case you wish to postpone your course, you should inform the administration of the school at least 2 weeks before. If you have taken any extra service (lodging), the weeks you have not used will not be reimbursed.

Can I cancel my course?

To cancel your course, please consult the conditions in the section Enrollment (FAQ). Once your course has started, you will not be entitled to any refund.

What information do I need to know for my online classes?

To book a private or online class you can do it in person or trough the registration form. The administration we will indicate all the steps to follow.

All classes should be paid for before starting.

For the online classes, the school will send you a link to the meeting (normally we use the application Zoom). You should dispose of the application and a computer, tablet or mobile phone to access (the centre will not provide those). The access code to the classes given by the school is personal and non-transferable.

Once you have started your class, your teacher will give you his/her email so that you can contact him/her in case you need to do so.

Private and/or online class can only be cancelled at least 24 hours beforehand, otherwise you will lose that class sessions without possible refund.

Which certificate will I receive at the end of my course?

At the end of the course you will receive a free Attendance Certificate.

If you wish, you can also request a Study Certificate. We will issue this certificate exclusively if you have passed  the corresponding examinations and attend at least 90% of the course sessions. Price of this certificate: 12.00 €.

Students have the possibility to obtain university credits, granted by the Pontifical University of Salamanca (ask for more information at the Administration).

All certificates will include the following information: name and address of the center, name and contents of the course, number of sessions you have attended, name, place and date, as well as the signature of the person in charge or director and the seal of the center.

If you wish, you can request a document on your class performance which will indicate your progress and attendance.

The certificates of the Colegio do not have any official value since the only official recognition is the DELE issued by the Cervantes Institute.

How can I contact the school in case of emergency?

From the Administration of the Colegio, we will send you a document with all Useful information before arrival, where you can also find the contact phone numbers in case of emergency.

Will I get any discount if I return to the Colegio de España?

If you return to the Colegio for the second time, you will receive a 5% discount for your new course, and if you bring us a friend to take a course at the Colegio, he/she will receive the same discount.

Accommodation

Are there any extra charges for the accommodation service?

You must pay €39.00 for  the placement charge (this amount will be included in your invoice). If you have special meal request (vegetarian, celiac, vegan, halal, etc.) you must pay an extra €2.00 per night.

When can I arrive at my accommodation and when do I have to leave?

You can arrive and leave the accommodation any day of the week, including weekends, until 10.30p.m. for host families and flats.

How can I contact with the accommodation I have chosen?

On the invoice we will send you, you will find all necessary information for your accommodation (address, contact person, etc.).

What do I need to bring?

For all options, the bed linen, kitchen utensils, etc. are provided for. 

If you have chosen to stay at a shared flat, you should bring towels for your personal use.

Where do I get the keys for my flat?

When you arrive to your accommodation, the host family or landlord/landlady will give you the keys. We remind you that you must return the keys before your departure. 

Can I cook in my accommodation?

If you have chosen any of these options: host family, residence, hotel or hostel, you will not be able to use the kitchen. In the shared apartments you can use the kitchen and all its utensils.

Is laundry included in my accommodation?

Laundry service (one weekly) is included if you stay with a  host family. If you wish to have your laundry done, you should inform the host family. If you a staying a shared flat you can use the washing machine available to all students. 

Can I change my accommodation if I am not satisfied?

Yes. The Colegio offers you the possibility to change your accommodation to another similar one (without any extra cost) if you would not be satisfied for any reason. In this case, please inform the Administration of the Colegio as soon as possible.

Can I extend my stay?

Yes. If you wish to extend your stay, please inform the Administration of the Colegio as soon as possible to ensure the availability.

Can I take other people to my accommodation?

We remind you that it is not allowed to lodge any other persons in your room nor in the common areas, the rent is exclusively for the student that has made the reservation.

Can I have parties in my accommodation?

No, it is not allowed to organize any parties at the lodging. We remind you that in Spain there is a prohibition to make noise after midnight.

Pick-up

What do I have to do to request a private transfer?

To request a pick-up service, you must send us, at least 7 days before your arrival, the following details: flight number, airline, arrival time, city of origin and destination.

What information will I receive when booking my transfer?

Before travelling you will receive an email with the name of the taxi driver and his/her phone number. Upon arrival he/she will be waiting for you in the hall of the terminal.

Where will my transfer pick me up and drop me off?

The pick-up service is from the airport directly to your lodging (host family, flat, residence, etc.).

Can I cancel, delay or change my transfer?

In case of cancellation of the service, this should be communicated at least 7 days before arrival. Otherwise the Colegio de España will not give you any refund.

In case your flight would be delayed, you should contact the driver to inform him/her.

In case of any change to the flight, you should inform the administration of the school as soon as possible (we remind you the on public holidays and weekends the school is closed). In case you send us this information the same day of your flight and that day coincides with a a public holidays or weekend, the Colegio will not be responsible for the change nor give you any refund.

Can I book a transfer for a minor student?

Parents or legal guardians that wish to take this service for underaged students should get information from their airline company and the airport in Spain of any specific requirements needed. Also, the should fill out any necessary documents and send all necessary information for the pick-up to the school.

Bus

Direct bus Madrid-Salamanca from Madrid Airport.

Bus

The international airport of Madrid Adolfo Suárez-Barajas is situated at about 220 kilometres from Salamanca. If your flight arrives to Madrid Airport, the quickest way to come to Salamanca (and the one we recommend you) is the following:

The company Avanzabus offers a direct bus service from the airport (Terminals 1 and 4) to Salamanca, this trip takes approximately two hours and a half. 

If you wish to use this service, we recommend you to buy your ticket before arrival to Madrid.

Train

If you are already in Madrid or you do not want to travel by bus, you can take the following option:

At the train station of Chamartín, you can buy your train ticket to Salamanca. This company (Renfe) offers several daily services.

How do I reach the Chamartín Train Station?

If you are at Madrid Airport and you wish to go  to Chamartín Train Station, you have the following options: 

  • By taxi: this service costs around 40 euros (depending on the traffic, supplements, etc.) and works 24 hours a day.
  • Suburban Train: a modern train suburban line connects Terminal 4 with several key points in Madrid: Chamartín, Nuevos Ministerios, Atocha and Príncipe Pío. For more information, consult this link.
  • By metro: from the airport you can take Line 8 which connects all airport terminals with Nuevos Ministerios Station in the centre of Madrid.  For more information, consult this link.

Taxi

Our school offers the possibility to make reservations for a private pick-up service from the airport to your lodging in Salamanca. If you choose to take this service, a representative from our school will be waiting for you at the terminal exit holding a sign with your name.

The information on the driver (name and contact number) will be sent to you before leaving for Spain.

Get to know Salamanca
